Paper Abstract:
|
Games in higher dimensions offer the possibility of exploring alternative virtual realities. Previous work suggests that
subjects are able to adjust to 4D environments and that the experience can be engaging. In this paper we review some
basic 4D games and discuss the methods and technologies required to facilitate their development. These include our
rudimentary API for the construction of higher dimensional geometric objects, and a data structure for representing
higher dimensional objects. We describe a simple 4D puzzle built with these tools and discuss several aspects of a
hypothetical 4D first person shooter game. We conclude that there is great potential in 4D games. |
